Three La Salle students participated in the inaugural Zoo Plein Air High School Art Competition in September: Evan Sweeney '19, Robert Sinkhorn '20, and Jeremy Bogges '20.
The competition, sponsored by the Cincinnati Zoo and Cincinnati Art Club, involved students attending the zoo over two days and completing an art drawing in those two days. The zoo supplied all the materials for the project including the paper and the drawing medium: pencil, pen, colored pencil, or chalk. The art was displayed at the Art Club and judged by Art Club members.
La Salle art instructor Mike Kneuven was impressed by the quality of art completed by the artists over the two days.
"To have only two days to complete a detailed drawing is difficult even for the most seasoned artists," says Knueven. "These high school students showed their exceptional talent through their drawings and their ability to focus for long periods of time. I am very proud of all of our students who participated in the competition."
A total of 40 high school students from across the tri-state participated in the event.
