LA SALLE TO INSTALL NEW SYNTHETIC FIELD AT LANCER STADIUM
La Salle High School is excited to announce the upgrade of Lancer Stadium with new synthetic turf installed by The Motz Group. The new field will be named "Buddy LaRosa Field" to honor the loyalty of the entire LaRosa family.
Lancer Stadium, including the track and inside field, will be closed starting Monday, May 15, 2017. Construction will include the replacement of the turf and installation of lacrosse sleeves and netting.
This project would not be possible without support from the Cincinnati Bengals and the NFL Foundation who topped a fundraising effort that raised $325,000. La Salle Athletic Director Keith Pantling was very humbled by the gift. "We can't thank the Bengals enough for their generosity and continued support of local amateur athletics. Their major gift solidified this project."
In addition to the Cincinnati Bengals, other benefactors include Rumpke, LaRosa's and Nieman Plumbing. Dan Flynn, former La Salle Athletic Director and current Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving, was instrumental in securing the funding for the new synthetic field turf. "I am so thankful to the Bengals, Schott Foundation, Rumpke, Nieman and LaRosa families," says Flynn. "From the day we began construction on Lancer Stadium nearly 30 years ago, to the renovation project 11 years ago, these great families have been at the forefront of our efforts to provide first class facilities for our students."
Pantling added, "An upgrade like this impacts not only our student-athletes at La Salle, but so many other individuals and organizations in the community that use the field year-round."
La Salle will be holding an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at Lancer Stadium on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 10 am. Representatives from the Cincinnati Bengals, La Rosa Family, Rumpke, and Nieman Plumbing are scheduled to attend the ceremony. More details will be announced at a later date.
Lancer Stadium and Buddy LaRosa Field is scheduled to open June 12. Summer Camp attendees will be the first to use the new turf. Camps such as soccer, lacrosse, and football are scheduled on the new field turf. For more information on these and other summer camps, go to www.lasallehs.net/summercamps
