Starting with the 2019-20 Academic Year, La Salle will offer Information Technology courses through the University of Cincinnati Early College Program.Students that participate in the Early College Program will receive college credits for their courses if they attend the University of Cincinnati after high school graduation.

"The Early College Program gives our students an opportunity to complete college courses while at La Salle," says La Salle Principal Aaron Marshall."It is one example of how we are continually going beyond traditional classroom design to create opportunities for our students."

More than 10% of La Salle students have submitted a registration request for the Fundamental of Information Technology course for next year. That course is the starting course of the program with additional courses added into the curriculum in upcoming academic years.

"We have this program in over 20 other schools and school districts," said UC School of Information Technology Director Dr. Hazem Said."We are excited to add La Salle to the program and starting the courses next year with our first group of students."

Courses will be taught by three existing teachers in the Mathematics, Digital Media and Computer Technology programs. These teachers will participate in a competency-based graduate certificate program enabling them to teach the college courses.

Starting with the Class of 2023, the program will be fully developed over their four years giving them the opportunity to complete a full year of college credit in Information Technology before graduating from La Salle.Students that complete the full ECP program are eligible for automatic acceptance into UC Information Technology program and advance standing as a sophomore at UC.Students with advanced standing will be eligible to complete a bachelor degree in three years.
