Four La Salle senior student leaders have earned the Ronald Reagan Student Leader Award through the Ronald Reagan Foundation: Ben Sinkhorn, Robert Pearson, Jacob Heffron, and Remington Schneider.
According to the Ronald Reagan Foundation Website, "The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation offers high school administrators a way to recognize outstanding high school students whose leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship skills are emblematic of our nation's 40th President."
Steve Dalton, Director of Signum Fidei, nominated the senior leaders for the award. "These student leaders continually went above and beyond the call of duty for the La Salle community. Many times they were the behind the scene leaders organizing events, coordinating communications, and helping where needed."
All four students' leadership was present in practically every student activity event this year including the freshman transition program, tailgating events, pep rallies, Canned Food Drive, Homecoming week activities, student dances, mixers, promotional videos, event reflection videos, and mentoring the junior student leaders.
Remington Scheneider was President of Signum Fidei for the 2016-17 academic year. As President, he coordinated and monitored all the senior leadership committees and events having an integral part in every student activity event for the year. In addition to his position with Signum Fidei, he was a captain on the swimming team and participated on the Lasallian Youth Service Immersion Trip to Nicaragua. He has accepted the Bowling Green State University President's Leadership Academy admission and scholarship. He will be studying Environmental Science Policy. Remmington is a member of St. John Dry Ridge parish.
Jake Heffron was the Media Communications Co-Chair for the 2016-17 academic year. In this position, he was the main on-air talent, edited the videos, and promoted all the student activity videos for the year. Many times multiple videos were released in the same week requiring planning and coordination of schedules. He also participated on the golf team for four years and participated in a Lasallian Youth Service Immersion Trip to Give Kids the World in Orlando, FL. He has committed to attending Ohio University to study Business Analytics. Jake is a member of St. John Harrison parish.
Robert Pearson was the Media Communications Co-Chair for the 2016-17 academic year. In this position, he coordinated the video production schedules, edited videos, and organized the support media needed for the videos. He also participated in a Lasallian Youth Service Immersion Trip to Give Kids the World in Orlando, FL and was a captain on the soccer team for both his junior and senior years. He has accepted at Service/Leadership Scholarship to the University of Dayton where he plans to study Business. Robert is a member of St. James White Oak parish.
Ben Sinkhorn was a technology coordinator for the 2016-17 academic year. He also participated in Lasallian Youth Service Immersion Trips to Hindman, KY and New Orleans, LA. He was very active in Key Club, Big Brothers, Go Do Good, and other service organizations earning over 800 hours of service hours. He has accepted a scholarship to attend Xavier next year with an Undeclared major. Ben is a member of St. Teresa Parish in Lawrenceburg, IN.
