The La Salle Athletic Department announced today that Eric Vehr '70 has been named the next Varsity Lancer Track & Field Coach
Eric has been a La Salle volunteer assistant Track and Field coach for the past 17 years. He has primarily worked with the high jumpers and long jumpers and assisted with sprinters. He was an assistant coach for the 2008 2nd place state finish team and the 2011 State Championship team. In addition to those teams, he has coached many individual players who have placed in GCL and District championships.
Eric started his participation in Track & Field while a student at La Salle. He competed in high jump and pole vault. He continues to participate in track and field in local and state Senior Olympic track meets in his age group. He recently placed 1st and 2nd in meets in Ohio and West Virginia which has qualified him for the National Senior Olympics track meet to be held in Albequerque, NM in June, 2019.
Eric has a long history of service to La Salle. In addition to volunteering as a Track & Field coach, he has served on the La Salle Business Association, co-chaired by La Salle Career Day, was a co-commissioner of the La Salle Alumni Basketball League, volunteered at the Camelot Auction, and is a current member of the Game Day Crew for football.
Eric and his wife, Carol, reside in Groesbeck. They have two sons, Jonathan '03 and Alex '05, and two grandsons. Eric has worked in Sales and Sales Management for 44 years and will be retiring at the end of this calendar year.
