Student Updates

  • Counselors will be presenting information to freshman, sophomores, and juniors about the course selection process for the 2019-2020 school year on 1/28/19. Following the scheduling presentations, students should discuss course options with their parents/ guardians. Students should be prepared to enter their tentative course requests into Power School the week of 2/4/19. Counselors will begin meeting with freshman, sophomores, and juniors individually to discuss and approve course requests beginning on 2/11/19.

Upcoming La Salle Events

  • Information Technology (IT) Course Offering Meeting 1/29/19 @ 7pm in the Media Center- In partnership with the University of Cincinnati (UC), La Salle will be offering IT courses for the 2019-2020 school year which can earn students college credit if they matriculate to UC or take the courses as CCP.  Students and parents of students interested in the IT field are encouraged to attend.
  • College Credit Plus (CCP) Information Night 2/7/19 @ 7pm in the Media Center- for students and parents of students interested in CCP.  Representatives from the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati State will be present to discuss the College Credit Plus program.Counselors will be presenting information to freshman, sophomores, and juniors about the course selection process for the 2019-2020 school year on 1/28/19.   • Students with Learning Differences: The Transition to College 1/30/19 @ 6pm at Thomas More University- This program will discuss the important differences between support services at the high school level compared to the college level.  Learn More.

Testing

  • Upcoming ACT
    • 2/9/19 (Late registration deadline 1/18/19)
    • Free ACT Test Prep
    • Please note that all juniors will be taking the ACT for free at La Salle in March.  This testing session is paid for by the state of Ohio and La Salle will be completing the registration for all students.

 

College Credit Plus (CCP)

  • Students intending to take a college course (either during the summer or next fall) on the University of Cincinnati’s (UC) Uptown campus or online with a UC faculty member are required to take the ACT or SAT.  Students are advised to take the ACT or SAT no later than February. Students must request to have scores sent directly to UC from the testing agency at the time of test registration to allow time for UC to receive the scores by the CCP Application deadline of 4/1/19.  **Students who take the ACT in February run the risk of their scores not being received at UC prior to the application deadline as it takes the testing agencies several weeks to process and send scores.

High School Scholarship Opportunities

  • Sons of the American Revolution George S. & Stella M. Knight Scholarship Essay Contest- all students in grades 9-12 who are interested in the American Revolution are invited to participate in the contest.  Deadline 1/28/19Learn More.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • American Lung Association 2019 Fight For Air Climb is looking for student volunteers to assist with their event on 2/10/19. Volunteers needed for various tasks including set-up, registration, water stations, coat check, and more. Summer Programs

  • Throughout the year La Salle’s Counseling Department is notified of summer programs related to college and career interests.  Summer programs are a great way for students to gain experience in a particular field (as well as looking good on a resume when applying to college).  Please see Summer Programs 2018-2019 for a listing of programs. *This list will be updated as we hear about additional programs.

Summer Apprenticeship Opportunities

  • Procter & Gamble is recruiting senior students for apprenticeship positions for their Careers in Business Initiative (CIBI) Program.  To qualify, students should be in a leader in our school and/ or community; have a good academic record; plan to continue their education; and have a desire to learn more about business opportunities before entering college.  Learn More & Apply.

  • Western Baseball Conference (WBC) is seeking umpires for the 2019 baseball season.  Learn More.
  • Cincinnati Catholic Cemetery Society is looking to hire someone 17 yrs or older to staff one of their buildings on weekends.  The individual would perform general cleaning, maintenance, and assist visitors.
