Meet Our Students

Mark Lohman

What has been your favorite LSI field experience and why?

One of my favorites was our visit to Beacon Orthopedics freshman year. Among other things we saw instruments at work which we had the opportunity to try out in the classroom when Ethicon, a producer of medical devices, visited us. This, in part, influenced my choice in major.

What is your favorite memory of your experiences at La Salle?

My favorite memory at La Salle is my service trip to New Orleans last summer. Our group had the opportunity to help with the construction of a man’s house that was ruined in a tornado in recent years. Although we were mudding and sanding most days, the work we did had purpose and we had a good time overall and I grew closer to some of my classmates.

How many service hours have you completed at La Salle and organizations you served the most?

I have about 300 service hours at many different areas.  It included 2 LYSIT trips, tutoring through NHS, and Canned Food Drive

What types of awards have you received?

National Merit Commended, National Hispanic Scholar, Academic Excellence, First Honors every quarter so far, Top 5 and Lancer Award in Cross Country

Besides LSI, what other activities have you participated in during your time at La Salle including clubs, athletics, service programs, honor programs, etc?

Cross Country, Track and Field, LYSIT to Hindman, Kentucky, LYSIT to New Orleans, Louisiana, Ski Club, Key Club, Venture Crew, National Honors Society

How do you think La Salle prepared you for your college program choice?

Through LSI I have learned about different career paths, so I got to see what interests me. This was accomplished through seminars given by professionals, projects simulating real-world issues in different fields, and field visits to local companies and schools.

Why did you chose your college to attend?

I chose to attend Rose Holman next year. The school is really focused on education and student success as an engineering, science, and math only school. It seems that really tight communities exist in the school’s supportive, not so competitive, environment.
