Junior Music Mentorship
Music Mentorship: Each participating Junior Member will be paired with a “Big Brother” or “Big Sister” from our High School Wind Ensemble. These High School students will be selected based on their demeanor, leadership, and musicianship. This mentorship program will help to guide our young musicians through the more difficult repertoire.
Schedule: Once weekly from December - May
- Percussion - Wednesdays, 6:00pm – 7:30pm
- Winds – Thursdays, 4:30pm – 6:00pm
- Students that join the program part-way through the season may participate at a prorated price.
- Student fees will not be prorated due to unanticipated schedule conflicts for the student.
- Includes 22 weeks of rehearsal, and 2 performances
Junior Winds Participation in Wind Ensemble
The Junior Winds Rehearsal is intentionally timed to align with our High School Wind Ensemble rehearsal. This will allow students the opportunity to move fluidly between the two rehearsals. Our Junior Musicians will learn many pieces of music, some of which will be partnered with the High School Ensemble. In the event a 7th or 8th grade student is thriving, they may be asked to join the Wind Ensemble full-time. This additional attendance is at the discretion of the Staff and Parents to make a choice that is best for each child.
Junior Percussion Participation in Winter Drumline
Our high school percussionists meet once a week to develop skills associated with marching percussion. This group is focused on rhythmic accuracy, technique building, and community bonding. In the event a 7th or 8th grade student is thriving, they may be asked to join the Winter Percussion full-time. This additional attendance is at the discretion of the staff and parents to make a choice that is best for each child.
Our Junior Guard program will come into full-force starting in February at a prorated cost. Throughout March, in an effort to peak interest and ensure the Junior Program thrives, we will hold several Junior Guard Clinics. These will be one-evening events hosted to give juniors an opportunity to experience guard before making the full-commitment.
