Updated quarantine rules
Last week Governor DeWine shared the news that students who are masked and socially distanced in the classroom will no longer need to be quarantined if their classmate tests positive for COVID-19. As a result we will continue contact tracing all positive school cases, but only those close contacts outside of the classroom (lunch, gym class, athletic teams, drama, etc.) will be required to quarantine. Click here to read the quarantine guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health. We will continue to update our policy as we receive updated information from the Governor's Office and Hamilton County Public Health.
As we mentioned in our December communication, at the end of the semester (January 15) we would evaluate the status of optional online learning. There is no school on January 18 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The following options are available for the second semester beginning January 19:
- Students may choose to continue online learning through February 26 and return to school on March 1, 2021. No action is necessary and no additional forms need to be completed.
- Students may continue to attend school in person. No action is necessary and no additional forms need to be completed.
- Students who choose to change to in-person or online learning must contact their counselor to let them know of the change. If deciding to go online, students and parents must sign and return the Online Learning Contract. Once your son's counselor receives the signed contract, your son may begin online learning immediately. If choosing in-person learning, students should return to school on January 19.
We will continue to evaluate the status of optional online learning as March 1 approaches.
Please contact our school nurse, Susan Geoppinger, immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org if your son tests positive for COVID-19.
Parents of student-athletes: The Ohio Department of Health Director’s Sports Order amended and issued September 25, 2020, provides mandatory requirements for interscholastic sports. Any student-athlete who tests positive for COVID-19, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic, shall not return to sports activities (practices or contests) until a documented medical exam has been performed. This clearance includes a documented physical exam with specific cardiac/heart risk evaluation. Student-athletes are not permitted to reenter practice or competition until cleared by a physician or licensed medical provider. In conjunction with our athletic department, our athletic trainers will contact those individuals who are required to complete this exam before returning to participation in any La Salle athletic activities.
