La Salle announces Director of Advancement - Brian Hurst

La Salle is excited to welcome new Advancement Director Brian Hurst to the school’s development team.

Brian is a senior-level major gift fundraiser and non-profit management professional who spent nearly 15 years at the University of Cincinnati Foundation serving as their Senior Director of Development for three of the four colleges (Nursing, Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences) on the university’s Academic Health Center campus. During his tenure at the university, Brian personally solicited and closed over 22 million dollars in donations from alumni, businesses, foundations and other UC supporters.

“I am thrilled to join La Salle’s 60-year tradition of excellence and have the opportunity to lead the school’s Advancement Department to even greater success,” Brian said. “I look forward to immersing myself in the Lancer community and working with alumni to grow the annual fund and build major and planned giving programs for the school.”

La Salle’s extended search for this position resulted in multiple candidates. The interview team included internal school leaders and the assistance of Bob Dorsey, Ken Barlag, Matt Dierkers and Dan Flynn, the architects of the Development Office since its inception in the 80s.

"I am very excited that Brian is joining the La Salle Advancement Department and look forward to working with and learning from him,” Bob Dorsey, Advancement Committee chair and member of La Salle’s board of limited jurisdiction shared. “Brian brings a tremendous amount of advancement and fundraising experience to La Salle.”

Brian’s experience in soliciting and securing major gifts, managing annual funds, nurturing donor relationships, assembling volunteers and planning and executing alumni events made him the perfect candidate.

Brian is recognized for his commitment to building trusted relationships with faculty, students, alumni and donors. In addition to his expertise in higher education fundraising, he has also served as the lead development officer for a family service agency, the alumni coordinator for a private K-12 school and a recruiter and fundraiser for a youth service organization.

“We are thrilled to have Brian join La Salle,” principal Aaron Marshall shared. “I am excited for him to be part of our team as we build upon our rich history and tradition. Brian’s expertise and proven track record in philanthropy will help continue to move us forward.”

When Brian’s not helping families achieve their philanthropic goals, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four boys, relaxing by the pool in the summer, skiing in the winter and working out often enough to avoid getting the dreaded ‘dad-bod’ label from his kids.

Brian’s start date is December 14.
