Frequently Asked Questions - back to school edition

  • How do I know my son's schedule?
    • School counselors emailed school schedules to students in June. Students can also locate their schedules by logging in to PowerSchool.
  • Where do I drop my son off for school if it is before 7:30am?
    • All students must enter the school through the courtyard entrance at the back of the building. La Salle High School opens at 7:15am.
  • Where does my son go if I can't pick him up until after 3:30pm?
    • The cafeteria will be open until 3:50pm and perfected by a staff member. After 3:50pm, the building is closed and students will have to wait in the courtyard or the courtyard lobby until pickup.
  • When is parent/teacher conference night?
    • We don’t conduct an official Parent/Teacher conference evening as the expectation is for our teachers to communicate with parents on an ongoing basis. Parents are encouraged to contact their son’s teachers if they have concerns.
  • When is Follow Your Son's Schedule Night?
    • Wednesday, September 2 from 7:00-9:00pm
    • To follow the safety guidance from the Hamilton County Health Department, we will not be offering refreshments and we request that only one parent per student attend the event. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
  • Where do I park to drop him off/pick him up?
    • Before/After School: If you are dropping off your son prior to 8:10am or picking up your son after 2:50pm, you will have to drive around to our courtyard entrance in the back parking lot. If you are early in picking up your son after school please park in one of the open parking spaces. This will alleviate traffic issues and long lines in the parking aisles at dismissal.
    • During School (8:10am - 2:50pm): If you are dropping your son off during the school day, please do so through the front entrance in the middle of the school.
  • Does my son need a backpack?
    • Teachers are encouraged to utilize electronic materials as often as possible, but we realize there may be items your son needs to bring back and forth to school. Backpacks should be left in student lockers during the school day.
  • When will students receive their tablets?
    • The class of 2024 received their tablets during orientation on August 18. If you were not able to attend, please contact Jake Pucci at jpucci@lasallehs.net to schedule a pick up time. Upperclassmen already have their laptops.
  • How does my son turn in his English summer work?
  • Will the health screening link be sent out to parents?
    • No, the students will receive a daily email with a link to their health assessment.
  • Do students need to put their mask on before getting out of their cars?
    • Students should be wearing facial coverings while on school grounds including parking lots, courtyard area and in the school building.
  • What type of facial coverings are allowed?
    • Cloth masks, gaiters and disposable medical masks. Visit the student handbook for specifics.
  • How will students travel between classes?
    • Students should move quickly to their next class. While we understand they may need to stop at their locker, no loitering will be permitted.
  • What will the classrooms look like in regard to distancing?
    • Classrooms have been assigned according to class sizes as dictated by the master schedule. All classrooms have been ‘mocked up’ with teacher and student desks to ensure three feet of social distancing, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Floors will be marked to ensure the proper placement of desks to accommodate social distancing. Assigned seating plans will be created by classroom teachers.
  • What will you tell students about social distancing?
    • We will have signage throughout the building as well as floor decals in common spaces reminding students to maintain social distance. Seats will be assigned in classrooms and cafeterias. We appreciate your support in reminding your son of the importance of all safety precautions: masks, hand washing and social distancing

    • Yes, please follow us on social media to see our upperclassmen modeling proper and safe behavior when entering the school or classroom.
  • Will students be required to use hand sanitizer when entering a classroom and when exiting?
    • Students are reminded and encouraged to sanitize their hands and wash hands often throughout the day. They will each be given a bottle of hand sanitizer on the first day of school. All classrooms and common spaces have hand sanitizer dispensers. Signage will be posted.
