Welcome to La Salle High School Guidance Web Site. The La Salle Guidance Department consists of three (3) Counselors, one (1) part-time Psychologist, (1) part-time Speech Pathologist, (1) part-time Special Education Tutor, and one (1) part-time Secretary. The Guidance Office is located on the west end of the second floor.
The primary role of the counselor is to assist each student reach his potential. The counseling department supports young men in educational, social, family, personal and spiritual areas. In addition, the students will be involved throughout high school with a structured process to familiarize them with the college research and application procedure as well as the occupational exploration.
Each of the counselors has a portion of the student body assigned to him/her and will see each of these individuals during the school year either through individual counseling sessions or through group meetings. The student will keep his same Counselor for all four years.
La Salle’s guidance counselors are well trained and equipped to administer various interest surveys and to interpret group achievement and intelligence test results. These surveys and tests are designed for personal exploration. The school psychologist is trained to administer and interpret individual intelligence, achievement and personality measures. The counselors and psychologist can aid families in finding referral sources for private psychological testing and treatment, medical services for the ill and handicapped and agencies for drug and alcohol treatment.
If any student needs to have a conference with his counselor, he should see his counselor before school. His counselor will see him as soon as possible.
Parents are encouraged to work closely with any of the counselors in order to provide the best education and development for the students. Feel free to call the counselors at school and set up an appointment.
