Courses

ACP Introduction to Computers (Year-long course)

(This course is required of all freshmen. In certain scheduling situations - e.g., students in Beginning Band, Band I, or Art permission will be granted to postpone this course) This course is taught in freshman year and is intended to cover a variety of topics in computer and computer application software. The course is broken down into seven mini-course topics: Keyboarding and basic computer terminology, Word processing, Spreadsheets, Computer Programming in the BASIC language, Desktop Publishing, Electronic Presentations with PowerPoint, accessing the Internet/intranet for Web page design. One-half credit

ACP Visual Programming I (Semester course)

Intended to teach basic programming techniques using Visual Basic 6.0. The student will use the computer to develop his skills as a programmer and be able to apply his knowledge of the topics towards solving business and mathematical problems. (No prerequisites, a good math background strongly recommended.) One-half credit

ACP Visual Programming II (Semester course)

Visual Programming II is a continuation of Visual Programming I and uses programming techniques of Visual Programming I to develop useful application programs with multiple dimensional array, control arrays, subroutines, external data files and databases. (Prerequisites: Visual Programming I.) One-half Credit

ACP Graphic Design (Semester course)

The students are introduced to the world of graphic communication through an in depth study of the design elements used in signs, letterheads, logos, flyers, newsletters, these elements will be developed through the use of PageMaker. (Prerequisites: None) One-half Credit

ACP Yearbook Production (Year-long course)

Develops and polishes writing, analytical, communication and leadership skills through the process of planning and layout of the yearbook. This course is limited to one section, is offered to juniors and seniors first. (Prerequisites: Graphic Design , Web Design, Photo Imaging, Computer Illustration, Computer Animation.) One Credit

ACP Design Publications (Year-long course)

Students will produce and design a weekly publication for La Salle's student body. Through the use of Adobe PageMaker 6.5, students will design, develop and create a weekly newsletter for students. (Prerequisites: Graphic Design) One Credit

ACP Photo Image Editing (Semester course)

With the constant expansion of the Internet, digital photography, and digital images a need for a better understanding of computer enhanced imagery has been created. This course is intended to explore and lay a foundation for a better comprehension of the available photo and image editing tools, specifically Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Image Ready, and GIF animators. (Prerequisites: None) One-half Credit

ACP Computer Modeling (Semester course)

This course enhances the flat still life images into an exciting 3 dimensional image through the use of RhinoŠ software. It is intended expand and enrich the experiences taught in Image Editing. (Prerequisites: Image Editing or Graphic Design.) One-half Credit

ACP Computer Animation (Semester course)

Animating is an old time test art, the computer industry has changed the process of animating forever. New and exciting develop in the computer industry has make the ability to manipulate art work available to more people. This is one the growth areas in movie and software businesses, this course will use PoserŠ to develop animation skills and techniques. (Prerequisites: None) One-half Credit

ACP Computer Animation II (Semester course)

This course integrates PoserŠ and environmental softwares BryceŠ and CannonŠ to develop full animations. (Prerequisites: Computer Animation) One-half Credit

ACP CADD Drawing (Semester course)

An introduction to Visual CADD Software with an emphasis on good design elements as well as an emphasis on technical drawing, drafting, dimensioning and related skills. (Prerequisites: None) One-half Credit

ACP Computer Illustration (Semester course)

This course takes in-depth study of Adobe Illustrator and how it can be incorporated in both printed and web designs. One-half Credit

ACP Architectural Drawing (Semester course)

Intended to be a first look into architectural and construction drafting. It will examine the history and development of different architectural styles, the major components of residential dwelling-living areas, traffic patterns, kitchens, sleeping areas, and service areas and how they relate to the over design of resident construction. This course builds and enhances the skills learned in CADD Drawing. (Prerequisites: CADD Drawing) One-half Credit

Web Development (Semester course)

Students will explore the principles of designing and building Web pages/sites using the Dreamweaver MX authoring software. Emphasis will be on tables, frames, rollover buttons, DHTML, CSS, and site maintenance. This course is valuable for the content person to develop and maintain an effective Web site. Introduces the concepts and techniques of web page creation and maintaining a web presence using web page software. (Prerequisites: None) One-half Credit

Web Management (Semester course)

In this course, you'll be introduced to the advanced concepts of the Dreamweaver MX and FlashMX web development application. You will examine how to apply rollovers, use behaviors with layers, use the History panel to automate repetitive tasks, and use Cascading Style Sheets to control HTML tags and page appearance. You will also explore the coding tools in Dreamweaver MX, which contain the integrated text editor and the JavaScript debugger. (Prerequisites: None) One-half Credit
