Career planning begins at La Salle. The online program that forms the primary basis of the La Salle career planning program is Ohio Career Information Services . Students are introduced to the OCIS through guidance meetings each year as well as in classes. This resource gives La Salle students a comprehensive career exploration and planning program from freshman through senior years. Students are encouraged to access the OCIS either at school or home.

Through a joint effort of the La Salle High School Parents Association and the Alumni Association, an annual Career Day program occurs which allows students to hear presentations from professionals representing a wide variety of career interests.
In addition the students will take The PLAN in their Sophomore year as well as the ASVAB survey in their Junior year which both offer suggestions of prospective career choices based upon survey results and interest inventories completed by the student.
Freshman Year – OCIS, Annual Career Day Program
Making it Count- An in-school presentation designed to help students make the most of their experiences in high school. The web site www.makingitcount.com has information for students and parents on colleges and careers. One helpful link is the “Major to Career Converter”.
Sophomore Year -- OCIS , Annual Career Day Program
The PLAN–PLAN results include a description of career areas in which the student expressed an interest. Follow up with activities relating to the “World of Work Map” found at www.actstudent.org .
Junior Year -- OCIS, Annual Career Day Program
ASVAB– ASVAB results include a follow-up classroom activity where students complete an interest inventory. Information at www.asvabprogram.com offers opportunities for further career investigation.
Senior Year – OCIS, Annual Career Day Program
The “Majors and Careers Central” link at www.collegeboard.com gives seniors important information about choosing a major and preparing for a career.
