Financial Aid Checklist
1. Determine institutional costs. Initially, do not eliminate the college of your choice because of financial reasons.
2. Investigate possible sources of aid.

Individual college financial aid office
Private foundations and local organization
Do an online scholarship search
3. File the FAFSA* or any other federal forms required soon after January 1. These forms can be picked up in the Guidance Office in early December.
4. Prepare essays if necessary.
5. Request letters of recommendation if necessary.
6. Keep track of progress, applications sent, responses, deadlines, etc.
7. Attend La Salle High School’s Financial Aid Night.
*Most schools will advise you to fill out one of three standard forms: the U.S.
Department of Education’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the College Scholarship Service’s Financial Aid Form (FAF), or the American College Testing Program’s Family Financial Statement (FFS).
